Name changes + data
Hey guys, as many of you are aware, the upcoming Minecraft 1.8 update will allow you to change your minecraft username.
What does this mean for the server? A lot. We ask you to NOT change your name right when 1.8 comes out, we will have a system that will prevent you from joining if you do. We will allow changes shortly after the 1.8 release.
Will I lose my stuff? Bypass bans? Ranks? D: Minecraft made a UUID system for keeping track of player data now. If you do not know what a UUID, it is a unique universal identifier. Everyone has their own UUID. ( http://api.fishbans.com/history/superpeanut911 ). We will be changing our ban system to UUIDs, so even if you change your name, you are still banned. Ranks are also being changed to the new system, as is pretty much everything.
The title said data loss... what?
We changed inventories/player world data for AC and CoD last night to the UUID system... AC had 19,600 files make it out of 19,619. Sorry to those 19 users, I know me and Photawr are among them (He helped me test stuff). CoD had a bigger hit... 12,761 out of 85,717 files made it out alive... The good part is that CoD does not need any of that data since your inventories are reset after every game, anyways. Most donors have lost their enderchests though, very sorry :( . We will be changing Prison/Survival when this UUID migration system is more stable and Mojang's API servers stop sucking, don't want to loose any survival/prison inventories. Bans will also be moved soon! :)
Thanks for reading, remember, don't change your username until we give an OK to do so, and vote daily :)
